Alyssa Welch awarded the Albert K. Murray Grant

Congratulations to 3rd year MFA candidate, Alyssa Welch, who was awarded an Albert Murray grant (her second) . Alyssa will use the funds to support the thesis project research and development.

Alyssa Welch is a third year graduate student in ceramics at the University of Florida. She received her BFA from N.Y.S.C.C. at Alfred University in ceramics and has been an Artist in Residence at St. Petersburg Clay Company, in St Petersburg FL. Alyssa creates functional work that has been designed for the domestic setting by referencing historical formal serving pieces and dinnerware with a rich history in food presentation. Special service tableware defines the occasion, creates ritual, evokes memories, refines the human spirit, and gives importance to what is being served.
